The Southern Utah Space Foundation is putting on a fun run! Click this link to sign up here.
The 5k UFO Fun Run is for runners and space enthusiasts of all ages. The run will wind up the Coal Creek Trail which trails into the gorgeous Cedar mountains. Costumes are encouraged. Along with fastest runners, the best dressed aliens will receive prizes.
Saturday, April 23, 10 am.
The race starts at the baseball fields at Veteran’s Memorial Park and winds up Coal Creek Trail. The address is: 200 N. 200 E., Cedar City, UT. It is on the corner of 275 N. Paiute Drive. Drive East on 200 North (Freedom Blvd.) to 200 East.
All ages and levels are invited, including runners, and joggers and walkers who are there to have fun. Kids are encouraged to participate, but children, especially young children, should have an accompanying adult. The trail is paved and very well-marked, however it’s easy for kids to wander off into the trees if they get curious.
SUSF is dedicated to astronomy education and outreach for our community and for the millions of tourists that come to see our national parks every year. We live in a prime astronomy location, and we provide professional level astronomy equipment to the public free of charge.
Our ultimate goal is to get a planetarium built in Southern Utah to compliment our already wonderful skies. In order to do that, we provide some events, like the 5k UFO Fun Run, which are intended to help us raise money and interact with the community.
If you are interested in helping SUSF but not in running, please consider making a donation to our current project, an awesome solar telescope we can use for daytime public events.
